LITIGATION SUPPORT/BUSINESS VALUATION SENIOR MANAGER
Position Summary:
The Economic Advisory Services (EAS) practice of Grant Thornton's Advisory Services Group offers a broad range of services in litigation support, business valuations, and due diligence . We assist our clients with challenging financial and economic issues in complex litigation and other business dispute cases and offer services in investigations of allegations related to fraud and/or irregularities, valuations, due diligence, bankruptcy, workouts, turnarounds, economic impact studies, computer fraud, and forensics.
The EAS Senior Manager is responsible for all phases of project and engagement management for multiple clients in a wide variety of industries. Responsibilities include planning, directing, and completing projects and services in litigation support, due diligence, business valuation, and forensics and developing and managing staff. The EAS Senior Manager works closely with partners and staff on client management, practice development, and business development. The EAS Senior Manager is responsible for an assigned group of clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality.
· Oversee the efforts of multiple client engagements; plan, execute, direct, and complete EAS projects and services in a wide variety of industries; and manage to budget.
· Develop a project vision and set challenging personal and client service team goals.
Litigation Support:
· Consult on large and complex litigated disputes and provide valuable financial insight and clarity to counsel during all stages of a business dispute, from case theory development and discovery to expert witness testimony.
· Serve as consultant to attorneys, assist in preparing questions for discovery and deposition of potential witnesses, serve as an expert witness, assist in reviewing and refuting the testimony and analysis of other expert witnesses, design court exhibits.
Valuation and Due Diligence:
· Oversee and apply business valuation approaches and methods to a variety of tangible and non-tangible assets, including equity valuations, option analyses, and purchase price allocations.
· Oversee the assembly, maintenance, and finalization of working papers that support valuations.
· Participate in due diligence engagements related to licensing and mergers and acquisitions.
· Analyze financial/operational results of targets through reviewing accounting records and conducting interviews with management.
· Prepare/evaluate pro forma financial information research complex accounting issues and assist with deal structuring.
· Perform industry and company research. Correlate due diligence findings with client valuations. Manage expectations of service.
Required Skills and Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
· A minimum of eight years of progressive experience in public accounting or consulting with a minimum of two years in litigation support, business valuation, transaction support, or forensics.
· Certification/license as CPA, CFA, CFE, CMA, CFA, or CIA and valuation credentials such as CVA, ABV, AVA, or ASA preferred.
· Accounting, finance, and economics knowledge; proficiency in US GAAP and GAAS preferred.
· Litigation Support/Consulting: Experience should include a demonstrated ability to assist litigators on developing, evaluating, and settling case strategies and preparation of attorney work product to support case strategies.
Valuation:
· Expertise in broad-based business and financial valuations, multi-discipline appraisals, and fairness opinions, especially those of closely held companies.
· Highly analytical with expertise in financial analysis and modeling, econometrics, statistics, and regression analysis.
· Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel to various client sites.
